Nutmeg Myristica fragrans

Back

Nutmegs are the seeds found in the fruits of large trees indigenous to the Indonesian Spice Islands. The Sanskrit name for Nutmeg is ‘Marica’, one of the names for the sun, chosen because of the warming and uplifting nature of this spices scent and taste.

The Nutmeg tree also produces the spice known as mace, found as the outer aril over the hard shell of the seed.; it is the only tropical fruit tree that is the source of two different spices. The strong spicy but sweet scent and taste of the spice has made it a favourite in perfumery but also in warming and spicy culinary dishes.

Commonly used in milk before bed as a soothing night cap we use it in Night Time capsules.
